The way I laid out my
½"
plywood is shown in the drawing above. The bottom, fore bulkhead,
cabin bulkhead and sides of the rudder box call for ½" ply.
Notes:

My bottom is done with
2 scarf joints (not the standard butt joint). This requires a 4 inch overlap
on the joints.

In the plans the forward
bulkhead shows grain running horizontally. On plywood there will also be
grain running vertically. I rotated it 45º to get it to fit. By rotating
the bulkhead 45º it would seem to give more strength to the outside
sections. At any rate I doubt it reduces the strength or if it does not
sufficiently enough to warrant buying another sheet of plywood.
