Home Wheel  | NextLofting
01 / 15 / 00 The wheel was the first part I built for the boat. I felt if I could build a wheel I could probably do the rest of the boat, besides I might as well have something I can hang on the wall and say "This is my boat, I've just got to finish a few things around it."

I used the pattern for the wheel with 4/4 mahogany.  I bisketed the  6 center joints and the 12 outside joints. I used a 3/8" roundoff bit with the router that I purchased to build the boat. This left a interesting 1/8" ring around the wheel and in the center that I left.

Here you can see it being epoxy coated. To keep the wheel higher than the sheetrock during curing I stuck 3 screws through.
