The rudder box was attached. Note the
whole for the bottom eye bolt. You can also see two small bolt heads
that are recessed on the lower rub rail. These hold the fairlead that holds
the block inside the lazerette. |

The steering hardware (minus the wheel
and spindle) was installed. The scheme
is basically the same as in the design, except that boat blocks with sheathed
cable and a turnbuckle was used. It is hoped that the cable will not stretch.
The idea was to eliminate the bolt ends protruding past the boat exterior. |

The lazerette front was installed. Scrap
wood and clamps were used to induce the proper bend. |
