One reason I wanted
to install a complete electrical system was have cabin and running lights.
Here is a picture of the cabin light during daylight hours.
The Coast Guard specifies navigation
lights for a sailboat under sail and power slightly differently. For
boats under 23 feet and under sail there are basically 3 lights, each visible
for 120º: White - To the rear, Green - Starboard, Red - Port. Under
power I should have switch the rear light off and have a masthead light
of 360º. I decided not to go to this trouble. An anchor light is normally
not required but when used it should be a masthead light of 360º.
I will probably use a battery operated one if I ever need it.
Here is the tail light.
The starboard light is attached to the
keel as shown here.
