Before placing the coaming around the
companionway I drilled spigot holes and coated them with epoxy. |

By using two coamings one on each of the
opening and overlapping by 1/2" with scuppers the drop board will be held
in place firmly and should be quite dry. |

The companionway door was cut in half
at a 45º angle from the original piece of the cabin bulkhead. These
2 drop boards make a conveniently removed, stored and water tight door.
I should have cut the door an extra 3/8" higher than the bulkhead, since
the cabin roof adds that much to the cabin top. I glued on an extra piece
to the straight cut of the doors to allow the cabin to close up tight. |
